Why Are Teachable Payouts Missing, Delayed, or Not Appearing Correctly in My PayPal Account?

Overview of Payment Issues

If you're experiencing missing, delayed, or unreflected payouts from Teachable in your PayPal account, multiple factors could be involved. Below, you'll find common causes, troubleshooting tips, and steps for resolving any payout issues.

Common Causes of Missing or Delayed Payouts

  1. PayPal Outage: System outages with PayPal can delay the processing of payouts. For example, PayPal outages on certain days have historically delayed Teachable payouts. Such delays are temporary and usually resolved promptly. For updates on resolved and ongoing outages, monitor Teachable's status page.

  2. Unresolved Author Payout Issues: Scheduled payments can sometimes be delayed due to external interruptions like outages. For instance, delayed author payouts were rescheduled around external outage periods and processed later. These delays are addressed once the underlying issue is resolved, and updates are regularly shared via Teachable's status page.

  3. Unclaimed PayPal Payments: When Teachable sends the payment to the PayPal account on file, users may occasionally overlook claiming payments in PayPal. Unclaimed payments may result in funds being returned to Teachable, which then retries them in a future payout cycle. Users are encouraged to actively check and claim their PayPal transactions.

Troubleshooting Missing or Delayed Payouts

If your payout isn't reflecting in your PayPal account, follow these steps:

  1. Monitor Teachable Status Page: - Check the status page to see if any outages or delays are reported. Teachable frequently updates users during outages or unusual payout delays.

  2. Verify Your PayPal Account: - Log in to your PayPal account and review your recent transactions. - If a payment appears as unclaimed or on hold, follow PayPal’s prompts to accept or release the funds. Teachable cannot accept or intervene in pending payments in PayPal.

  3. Reschedule and Await New Cycle: - In instances of delayed payouts caused by outages, affected transactions are typically resolved and rescheduled for the next available payout date. Continue to monitor for updated payment processing.

What to Do If Issues Persist

If your payout still has not been received after following the above steps and Teachable has confirmed the resolution of a delay, gather the following details:

  • Your transaction ID (if available)

  • Relevant account details

  • Any notifications received regarding payments

Then, report the issue through the Teachable support messaging system. Their team will review and assist with further troubleshooting.

How to Verify Notifications Regarding Your Payout

If you’ve received a notification of payment from PayPal but do not see the funds in your account:

  1. Check your PayPal account for unclaimed payments and accept or release them as required.

  2. Confirm the payout status within the Teachable admin settings.

  3. Remember, PayPal notification emails originate from PayPal directly and may not always align with the payment status in Teachable. If funds remain unclaimed, they may be automatically reattempted in a future payout cycle.

By understanding these steps and best practices, you can troubleshoot and resolve most common payout issues on Teachable.
