When you make a sale on Teachable, there are two types of transaction fees that may apply:
Teachable Plan fee — fee applied based on your Teachable plan
Processing fees — charged per transaction to cover payment processing costs; varies by gateway, bundle, your school's country, and the payment method used
This article breaks down both fee types for Teachable Payments and Custom Payment Gateway (CPG) schools.
Teachable Plan fee
The Teachable Plan fee is applied based on your current Teachable plan. It is applied across both Teachable Payments and Custom Payment Gateways.

Processing fees on Teachable Payments
Base processing fee
Per-transaction fees are charged by payments processors on all digital transactions, regardless of what platform you sell on. Thankfully, at Teachable, we're committed to offering the lowest processing fees we can through Teachable Payments. Base processing fees are determined by two factors:
Your Teachable Payments country — domestic vs. int'l fees are based on the location of your Teachable Payments account, and the location of the buyer; if both are in the same country, the transaction is treated as domestic.
The payment method used — cards, local payment methods, and BNPL each have different processing rates.
Good to know: Because fees are based on your school's location, you will never be surprised by unexpected cross-border fees on your end. Any currency conversion costs are handled via Adaptive Pricing and passed to the buyer at checkout.
Bundles
Teachable Payments schools select a bundle that determines which features are available and adds an additional percentage fee on top of your base processing rate. Bundles are selected from Sales > Payment Settings after completing gateway setup.

Note: Bundle fees are in addition to base processing rates listed below. For example, a US school on Global assessed a domestic card would pay: 2.9% + $0.30 (base card rate) + 2.8% (Go Global) = 5.7% + $0.30 total.

Custom Payment Gateway (CPG) fees
CPG schools connect their own Stripe Standard account to Teachable. Processing fees on CPG transactions are charged by Stripe directly to your connected Stripe account — not by Teachable. For specific processing rates, refer to Stripe's pricing page or contact Stripe support.
Teachable integration fee
In addition to Stripe's own processing fees, US-based CPG schools are charged a 2% integration fee per transaction by Teachable. This fee applies to US schools only.
Switching to Teachable Payments
If your school is eligible for Teachable Payments, switching from CPG removes the 2% integration fee and gives you access to lower processing rates, automatic tax handling, 35+ payment methods, and more. To check eligibility and switch, go to Sales > Payment Settings.
Tip: Creators in countries where Teachable Payments is available will almost always pay less in total fees on Teachable Payments than on CPG, even accounting for bundle fees. The integration fee, Stripe's standard rates, and the loss of tax automation all add up on CPG.
