Use the iOS App as a Student

This article goes over how to use the Teachable iOS app as a student of a Teachable school.

Using the Teachable iOS app is completely free. Once you’re enrolled in a course on a Teachable-powered school, you get access to course content anytime, anywhere by downloading the app.

Downloading the iOS App

  1. Go to the App Store on your iOS device or scan the QR code above.
  2. Search for Teachable (or simply click this link to be redirected to the page in the app store).
  3. Click the Get button. Click Install. Enter your Apple ID password or Touch ID if prompted.

NOTE: The Teachable iOS app is compatible and optimized for the iPhone and iPad and requires iOS 15.0 or later. Teachable does not currently have an app for Android devices.

Using the iOS App

    1. After downloading the app, open the app by selecting the Teachable icon (bright green with black “t:”) from your iOS home screen.
    2. If you are not yet logged into the app, you will be brought to the login screen.
    3. Enter the email address associated with your course purchase(s).
    4. You will be sent a one-time password to the email address associated with your account. Open your email app and locate the email with the subject, “Your Temporary Teachable login code is..."
    5. Copy the one-time password provided. You can copy the code by tapping on the text and holding down, and then selecting the code text and pressing “copy.”
    6. Enter the code on the login screen. You can paste from your device’s clipboard by tapping on the first field in the code and holding down, and then selecting “paste."

    7. Upon successful login, you will be brought to your current school enrollments.
      NOTE: This list will also include schools in which you are an owner, affiliate, or author
    8. Select the school you wish to view, which will bring you inside the products area, which lists products you’re enrolled in that are accessible in the iOS app
    9. Select a product to open it and view the content.

Things You Can Do Inside the App

  1. Access all your course purchases with active enrollments 
  2. Stream videos, audio files, and view handouts/worksheets while on the go
  3. Pick up where you left off: your course progress is automatically synced between the iPhone app and your Teachable school(s)
  4. Easily move from lesson to lesson, and course to course
  5. Take lecture quizzes and see your results
  6. Complete lessons and track your progress
  7. Download lessons for offline viewing in the app by clicking the downward arrow button at the top right corner of the lesson
  8. Submit feedback and feature requests to our team

Coming soon, you’ll be able to do even more in the iOS app, including

  • Viewing additional lesson content like comments, code examples, Youtube and Vimeo videos, and more.
  • Accessing a full course for offline viewing.

Troubleshooting and Common Questions

I clicked the download button–how can I view lessons offline?

A: Once the lesson download is complete, you will see a trash can icon replace the arrow icon. To access downloaded content, go to the schools page and scroll to the section "Your offline content." From there, select "View Downloaded lessons." You can then select the downloaded lesson you wish to view.

How can I adjust video settings?

A: Inside the video player, select the gear icon, and choose the setting you want to change. You can adjust the playback speed, captions, and autoplay settings.

Why am I not receiving the one-time password (OTP) login code?

A: If you're having trouble receiving the OTP code, we're here to assist you. To get started troubleshooting here are a few steps you can take.

  1. Check Your Spam Folder: Sometimes, emails can end up in your Spam folder by mistake. Please take a moment to check your Spam folder to see if the OTP email is there.
  2. Resend the Code: If you haven't received the OTP code after one minute you can request it again. Look for the option to resend the code, and give it another try.
  3. Verify your email address: If you're still not receiving the OTP code, it's possible that there's an issue with your account email. Here's what you can do:
    1. Double-check the email address you used to sign up for the school or Teachable account by signing into those accounts. Make sure there are no typos.
      Note: If you find unexpected typos, please update your email address from a web browser and try the iOS app login flow again.
    2. If you're sure your email is correct and you're still not receiving the code, there may be an issue with our system.

What email can I use to log in to the app?

A: Any email associated with enrollment in a school or product purchase may be used to access the app. Note that the app only displays courses that a user is enrolled in.

How can I log in to another account?

A: To log in to another account, select your user icon in the top right corner of the app to open the account settings page. Click Sign Out. Then log in with your other account.

Why can't I register?

A: You cannot register for courses from the iOS app.
