Publishing and Product Visibility for Online Schools

This article reviews how to set the publish and product visibility settings for your online school's products. To check your school's status, learn more about school publishing settings

Overview

Each product in your school has a publish setting and a product visibility setting. These settings allow you to control which products are available to new students for purchase and viewing in your product directory.

  • Publish setting - Determines whether a product can be purchased and enrolled in by new students. Only published products can be purchased or enrolled in by new students.
  • Product visibility setting - Determines whether a product is visible in your product catalog to students (i.e., the “Browse products” page). If product visibility is hidden, students can only enroll or purchase if you provide them with a direct link.

TIP: When should I use Unpublished vs Unlisted?

  • Use Unlisted if you want to sell a product privately—like sharing a course only with your email list or beta testers. Students can still purchase if you give them the link.

  • Use Unpublished if you want to pause new enrollments entirely while continuing to allow existing students to access the product.

  • Use Published when you're ready for anyone to find and purchase the product via your product catalog (i.e., "The Browse products" page)

Publish or unpublish a product

You can publish or unpublish any product in your school. Published products can be purchased and enrolled in by new students. Unpublished products can be accessed by existing students (i.e. students who have already purchased the product) but cannot be accessed or purchased by new students.

There are several ways to publish or unpublish a product in your school:

  1. From the product index page

  2. From the Information tab of the individual product

  3. From the Setup guide page (for courses)

Unpublishing a product does not affect students who are already enrolled — they will still be able to access it from their product catalog.

NOTE: Courses also have individual sections and lessons that can be published or unpublished independently of the product status. Learn more about publishing or unpublishing sections and lessons.

Publish or unpublish a product from the product index page

  1. Click on Courses, Coaching, Digital Products, or Bundles from the left-side admin menu.
  2. Under the Actions column, click the More options icon (⋯).

  3. Click Publish or Unpublish.

Publish or unpublish a product from the Information tab

  1. From the left-hand admin menu, click on a product type (e.g., Courses, Coaching, Digital Products, or Bundles).

  2. Go to the Information tab.

  3. Choose Publish or Unpublish, based on the product type:

    1. Courses: Click the Publish Course or Unpublish Course button in the Publish & Preview section.

    2. Coaching, Bundles, or Digital Downloads: Click the Publish or Unpublish button in the top-right corner of the page.

    3. Memberships: Each tier is published separately. To publish a tier, go to the Membership Dashboard, click the More options icon (⋯) next to the specific tier, then click Publish.

Publish or unpublish a course from the Setup Guide: 

  1. From the left-hand admin menu, click Courses.

  2. In the Setup Guide, click Publish or Unpublish.

Set product visibility

A product’s visibility status determines whether it appears in your public product catalog—this setting is separate from the product’s published status.

  • Visible products are listed in your product catalog, meaning any visitor to your school can discover, purchase, and enroll.

  • Unlisted products are not listed in your catalog. However, students can still enroll or purchase them if you share a direct link to the sales or checkout page.

NOTE: Only published products can be made visible in your catalog.

Unlisted visibility is a great option for private or invite-only products. It gives you more control over who can view and enroll in your offerings.

Set product visibility status from the product index page 

  1. From the left-hand admin menu, click Courses, Coaching, Digital Products, or Bundles.

  2. Under the Actions column, click the More options icon (⋯).

  3. Click Hide from product catalog or Show in product catalog, depending on the current visibility setting.

  4. Your changes will save automatically.

Set product visibility status from the Information tab 

  1. From the left-hand admin menu, click Courses, Coaching, Bundles, or Digital Downloads.

  2. Navigate to the Information tab.

    • For courses only, click on the Course Settings tab.
  3. Scroll down to the Product Visibility section.

  4. Use the toggle labeled Show in product catalog:

    • Toggle it off to make the product hidden from your catalog.
    • Toggle it on to make the product visible in your catalog.

Set product visibility for the full Membership product

  1. From the Membership Dashboard, click the Settings view.

  2. Scroll to the Visibility section.

  3. Use the Show membership on All Products page toggle:

    • Toggle it off to hide the membership from your school’s product catalog.

    • Toggle it on to make it visible in your catalog.

  4. Click Save to confirm your changes.

Set sales page visibility for Membership tiers

NOTE: Note: This visibility toggle only controls whether the tier appears on your membership sales page. It does not impact access, enrollment, or visibility elsewhere.

  1. From the Membership Dashboard, click Edit next to the tier you want to update.

  2. Click the Settings tab.

  3. Under Visibility, toggle Show on membership sales page on or off.

  4. Click Save to apply your changes.
