Navigating through lessons

Start a course or lesson

There are a few ways to move through your course:

  • Click the Start next lecture button at the top of the course curriculum to jump straight to your next uncompleted lesson.

  • Or, click the Start button next to any individual lesson to view it directly.

Dripped and locked lessons (Clock or Lock icon)

In some courses, you may see a clock icon or a lock icon next to a section. Here’s what they mean:

⏰ Clock Icon — Dripped Content

This means the section hasn’t been released yet. You’ll need to wait until the scheduled release date, set by the course creator.

Once it’s released, you’ll automatically gain access to all lessons in that section.

🔒 Lock Icon — Sequential Progress Required

This means you must complete all previous lessons in order before you can access this section. This includes:

  • Watching lesson videos in full — You must watch the entire video to unlock the next lesson.

  • Passing required quizzes — If a quiz has a passing grade and a limited number of attempts, you’ll need to pass it to move forward.

    • If you don’t pass within the allowed attempts, your school owner will be notified by email.

    • They have the option to reset your quiz score, which will allow you to try again.

    • If your score is reset, you’ll receive an email notification so you can retake the quiz.

Once all required lessons are completed, the locked section will automatically unlock.

Marking your course progress

As you work through your lessons, click the Complete and Continue button to mark the current lesson as complete and automatically move on to the next one.

Once a lesson is marked complete:

  • You’ll see a checkmark next to it.

  • Your overall course progress percentage will increase.

In the course sidebar:

  • Completed lessons show a checkmark.

  • Incomplete lessons show an empty or partially filled circle.

Important Notes About Progress Tracking

  • Lessons are only marked complete when you click the Complete and Continue button.

  • If you navigate by clicking lessons directly in the sidebar, they won’t be marked complete automatically.

  • You can revisit completed lessons anytime by selecting them from the sidebar.

Resetting Your Progress

If you want to reset your progress for the entire course or individual lessons, contact your school owner. They can:

  • Reset your progress if they have access to the feature, or

  • If not, delete your account and re-enroll you to start fresh.

Adjusting lesson video settings

You can customize your lesson video experience by clicking the gear icon at the top of the lesson list.

  • Autoplay - At this time, this function is managed in the video player settings described below.

  • Autocomplete - When toggled, lessons are automatically marked as complete when you finish the last video in the lesson.

Note-taking within the video player

To use personal notes:

  1. Click the Personal Notes icon in the video player and toggle it On.

  2. Type your note in the Personal Notes box and click Send.

  3. Your note will appear as an annotation on the video’s timeline, so you can easily find it later while watching.

Video picture-in-picture (PiP)

Teachable videos include a picture-in-picture (PiP) feature that lets you minimize the video to a corner of your screen while you navigate other browser tabs or windows. This way, you can keep watching the video while taking notes or reviewing other course materials.

Important: To keep the PiP video playing, make sure the lesson page with the video stays open in one of your browser tabs. If you close or navigate away from that page (for example, by clicking into another lesson), the PiP window will close.

How to Use Picture-in-Picture:

  1. While a course video is playing, click the picture-in-picture icon in the bottom-right corner of the video player.

  2. The video will minimize to a small window that stays on top as you switch to other tabs or windows.

  3. You can drag and move the minimized video anywhere on your screen.

  4. Use the pause/play button in the PiP window to control playback.

  5. To return to the full video page, click the Back to tab button on the minimized video.

NOTE: Picture-in-picture videos work on both mobile and desktop browsers for Chrome, Edge, and Safari.

Downloading lesson content

Some courses allow you to download lesson materials, depending on how the school owner has set it up. When a file is available for download, you’ll see a paperclip icon next to it.

To download:

  • Click the download link or paperclip icon.

  • Depending on your browser settings, the file will either:

    • Download directly to your computer, or

    • Open in a new browser tab where you can save it manually.

Troubleshooting

The course videos are not loading.

If a video isn’t loading or playing properly, the issue might be related to your browser, device, or internet connection.

Try these steps to fix it:

  • If the video was uploaded directly to the lesson, click the gear icon in the top-right corner of the video player and lower the playback quality to improve loading speed.

    video_player_gear_icon.jpg
  • Update your browser to the latest version or try watching the video in a different browser.

  • If problems continue, contact the school owner to check if there’s an issue with the video upload.

I did not receive my course certificate.

If you haven’t received a course certificate, here’s what to do:

  1. Check with the school owner to confirm whether the course offers a certificate. You can reach them through the school’s contact form.

  2. If the course does include a certificate, make sure you have marked all lessons as complete.

  3. After completing all lessons, you’ll receive an email notification with a link to view your certificate.

  4. If you don’t get the email, you can still download your certificate anytime:

    • Go to your course view and click the Certificate tab.

    • Click the Download button below the certificate image.
