This guide covers how to explore course content, track progress, adjust video settings, take notes, and engage with lessons.
NOTE: Please make sure you're using a supported device or browser. If you're using Firefox, ensure your privacy settings are set to "Standard"—otherwise, videos and course functionality may not work as expected.
Understanding the course curriculum view
Once you’ve logged in to your school, click the course you’re enrolled in to access its curriculum view.
In the course sidebar, you can view the following information:
Course Progress - This progress bar displays the percentage of the course that you are enrolled in.
Class Curriculum - This displays all of the sections and lessons in the course.
Your Instructor - This section shows the instructor’s photo and a brief bio or description to help you get to know who’s teaching the course.
Navigating through lessons
Start a course or lesson
There are a few ways to move through your course:
Click the Start next lecture button at the top of the course curriculum to jump straight to your next uncompleted lesson.
Or, click the Start button next to any individual lesson to view it directly.
Dripped and locked lessons (Clock or Lock icon)
Some courses include scheduled or sequential content, indicated by icons:
⏰ Clock Icon — Dripped Content
A clock icon means the section hasn’t been released yet. You’ll gain access automatically on the release date set by your instructor.
🔒 Lock Icon — Sequential Progress Required
A lock icon means sequential progress is required. You must complete all previous lessons before moving forward.
To unlock future sections, make sure to:
Watch lesson videos in full. You must view the entire video to mark it complete.
Pass required quizzes. If you fail within the allowed attempts, your school owner will be notified. They can reset your score so you can retake the quiz.
Once all requirements are complete, locked sections will unlock automatically.
Marking your course progress
As you work through your lessons, click the Complete and Continue button to mark the current lesson as complete and automatically move on to the next one.
When a lesson is marked complete:
A checkmark appears next to it.
Your overall Course progress percentage increases.
Important: Lessons are only marked complete when you click Complete and continue. Clicking lessons directly in the sidebar won’t mark them as complete automatically.
You can revisit completed lessons anytime by selecting them from the sidebar.
Resetting Your Progress
If you’d like to reset progress for a course or specific lessons, contact your school owner. They can:
Reset your progress (if available), or
Delete your account and re-enroll you to start over.

Note-taking within the video player
You can take private notes directly in the video player. Notes are visible only to you.
To add a note:
Click the Personal Notes icon and toggle it On.
Type your note in the Personal Notes box and click Send.
Your note will appear as an annotation on the video timeline so you can revisit it later
Video picture-in-picture (PiP)
Teachable videos include a picture-in-picture (PiP) feature that lets you minimize the video to a corner of your screen while you navigate other browser tabs or windows. This way, you can keep watching the video while taking notes or reviewing other course materials.
Important: To keep the PiP video playing, make sure the lesson page with the video stays open in one of your browser tabs. If you close or navigate away from that page (for example, by clicking into another lesson), the PiP window will close.
How to Use Picture-in-Picture:
While watching a video, click the picture-in-picture icon in the bottom-right corner.
Move and resize the mini-video anywhere on your screen.
Use play/pause controls within the PiP window.
Click Back to tab to return to the main lesson.
NOTE: Picture-in-picture videos work on both mobile and desktop browsers for Chrome, Edge, and Safari.
Downloading lesson content
Some courses allow you to download lesson materials. When a file is available for download, you’ll see a paperclip icon next to it.
To download:
Click the download link or paperclip icon next to the file.
Depending on your browser settings, the file will either:
Download directly to your computer, or
Open in a new tab so you can save it manually.
Tip: To print a file, download it first and open it in an app like Adobe Acrobat Reader, Google Drive, or your preferred word processor. Then print from there.

Troubleshooting

If a video isn’t loading or playing properly, the issue might be related to your browser, device, or internet connection.
Try these steps to fix it:
Lower video playback quality:
Click the gear icon in the top-right corner of the video player.
Reduce the playback quality to improve loading speed.
Update or change your browser:
Make sure your browser is updated to the latest version.
Try watching the video in a different browser such as Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.
Tip: If you’re using Firefox, ensure your privacy settings are set to Standard—otherwise, videos and course functionality may not work as expected.
Check with the school owner:
If problems continue, contact your school owner to confirm there’s no issue with the video upload.
I did not receive my course certificate.
If you haven’t received a course certificate, follow these steps:
Confirm certificate availability:

Check your email:
After finishing all lessons, you’ll receive an email notification with a link to view your certificate.
Download your certificate manually:
Go to your course view.
Click the Certificate tab.
Click Download below the certificate image.
My issue is not listed.
If your issue isn’t covered here, please reach out directly to your school owner for further assistance.
Note: School owners manage course content and student access. Teachable Support can help only with technical issues related to the platform itself.
