How can I fix the error message: 'This product is not available. Contact the school owner for more information' on Teachable?

This error shows up when a course or product isn't properly configured for enrollment. It usually comes down to pricing plans, publish status, or a misconfigured sales page link. Work through the checks below to find and fix the cause.

Diagnose and fix the error

1. Check your course publish status

The course must be published before students can enroll.

  1. Go to your Teachable dashboard.

  2. Open the course and navigate to Course Settings.

  3. Confirm the status is set to Published.

Important: Unpublished courses are invisible to students. This is the first thing to check.

2. Verify your pricing plan

A missing or hidden pricing plan is the most common cause of this error.

  1. Navigate to Courses > [Your Course] > Pricing.

  2. Confirm at least one active pricing plan is selected (Free, One-Time Payment, Subscription, or Payment Plan).

  3. Avoid using Hidden or expired plans.

  4. Save your changes and test the checkout link.

3. Check sales page and checkout visibility

  1. Open your course sales page settings.

  2. Confirm both the sales page and checkout page are set to Published.

  3. Draft or unpublished pages will block access even if the course is live.

4. Fix enrollment button links

If your sales page shows "Closed for enrollment" or "Product not available," the enrollment buttons may be pointing to the wrong place.

  1. Open the Sales Page Editor for the course.

  2. Select any Banner, Button, or Pricing block tied to enrollment.

  3. Open the block settings and go to Select Pricing Plan.

  4. Choose an active pricing plan.

  5. Click Update/Publish to save.

  6. Repeat for every enrollment block on the page.

Tip: Verify each button links directly to the live checkout page, not a draft or unpublished version.

5. Test as a student, not as the school owner

If you are logged in as the school owner, Teachable auto-enrolls you. You will not see the checkout screen.

To simulate the student experience:

  • Open the sales page in a private or incognito browser window, or

  • Log out of your Teachable account and visit the page directly.

FAQs

Why do I see this error even after publishing my course?

Your pricing plan may still be set to Hidden or expired. Go to Courses > Pricing and confirm at least one active plan is enabled.

Why does the button link to a draft page instead of checkout?

The Sales Page Editor stores link targets per block. If you updated your checkout page, you need to re-select the pricing plan inside each enrollment block.

Can students still enroll if I am logged in and testing?

No. School owners bypass the checkout flow. Always test enrollment in an incognito window or from a logged-out account.
