What Is a Teachable Account?
As a school owner, or "Creator," when you sign up for Teachable, you create a Teachable Account — and with it, your first School. Your Teachable Account is your central dashboard where you can:
Hold different user roles (owner, student, author, affiliate) across multiple Schools.
Access all of your connected Schools from one place.
This article focuses on the School Owner Teachable Account experience. Learn about setting up and configuring Teachable Accounts in general here.
Your Schools
As a Teachable Account owner, you can create or manage multiple Schools. Each School:
Has its own plan.
Lets you:
Manage users (students, authors, affiliates)
Customize your School’s site (branding, layout)
Create and manage Products, such as Courses, Coaching, Digital Downloads, or Bundles.
Note: Each School under your Teachable Account needs its own standalone plan.
Roles You Can Hold per School
Within your Teachable Account, different people can hold different roles depending on their responsibilities:
Owner — Full control of the School(s)
Author — Creates and manages assigned course content and sometimes students
Custom — Customized permissions based on owner configuration
Student — Enrolls in courses
Affiliate — Promotes your products for commission
Double Check: Your Teachable Account supports multiple roles — make sure to assign the proper role to each person.
Why Use a Teachable Account?
Centralized access: Log in once to access all your Schools.
Flexible roles: Switch between being an owner, student, author, or affiliate without needing different logins.
