Set Up and Integrate Your External Website

This article will guide you through integrating your external website seamlessly with Teachable.

Redirecting traffic from Teachable to your external website

Overview

If you already have your own website and prefer not to create a homepage on Teachable to showcase or sell your content, this guide will walk you through setting up a seamless redirect from Teachable to your external site.

The following areas will automatically redirect for users who are not logged in (i.e., potential students):

  1. Direct Navigation to Your School’s URL:
If a logged-out user visits your Teachable school’s URL (e.g., https://example.teachable.com), they will be redirected to your external website. However, specific pages like https://example.teachable.com/login will still lead to the login page.
  2. School Name or Logo Clicks:
Clicking on your school’s name or logo in the top-left corner of any Teachable page will also redirect to your external site.

TIP: Before proceeding we recommend having a link to log in to your Teachable school (https://example.teachable.com/login) in case any active students have been logged out, they can easily return to their enrolled content.

Set up an external sales page

Link your school product(s) to your external website. This article shows you how to set up and manage navigation from an external sales page to your product(s) checkout page(s).

Overview

Teachable offers several convenient ways to set up your own custom sales page on your desired external page editor (e.g., WordPress, Squarespace, Wix).

If you have an external website and are unfamiliar with coding or want an easy way to sell your Teachable product we recommend installing our WordPress plugin or embed buy button.

For the more advanced user who wants to code their purchase experience from scratch we recommend linking directly to your checkout link.

By following these steps, you can effectively direct your audience from your custom sales page to the Teachable checkout, maintaining a seamless experience for your users. This allows you to take advantage of Teachable’s robust content management features while using your preferred platform for sales and marketing.

WordPress plugin

The Teachable WordPress plugin seamlessly adds your product information to your WordPress blog or website without the need to duplicate information and connects directly with Teachable’s secure checkout platform. All you need is a product to sell and you’re ready to go.

  3. Find the pricing plan you want to use and click on the “Copy” button next to the URL in the Checkout URL column. This action will automatically copy the URL to your clipboard.
  4. Go to your external sales page editor (e.g., WordPress, Squarespace, Wix).
  5. Paste the copied checkout URL into the appropriate section of your sales page. This could be a button or a link that directs your potential students to the checkout page.
