Lowering transaction fees on Teachable
We’ve updated our transaction fee model to be more creator-friendly.
- Our Builder, Growth, and Advanced plans all offer 0% base transaction fees, so you can scale your business while keeping more of what you earn.
- Our Starter plan includes a 7.5% base transaction fee, which supports creators early in their business journey by keeping upfront subscription costs low.
Payment processing and commerce service fees—like credit card fees or PayPal charges—may still apply, but we’ve removed our own take of your earnings for all but our most affordable tier.
Elevating the student experience on all plans
We have improved your ability to serve students and manage their experiences across all our new plans.
We’re unlocking course and student management features—like completion certificates, enforced lesson completion, and automatic quiz grading—for all plans. These tools help you deliver a more structured, engaging, and premium learning experience, regardless of your plan.
Now included on all plans:
- Course drip content
- Course compliance / enforced lesson completion
- Certificates
- Lesson comments
- Multiple choice quizzes with automatic grading
- Short answer assessments
- Student progress reports
- Course engagement reports
Increasing access to sales and marketing features on Teachable
We have increased access to sales and marketing features and reduced fees across all our newly available plans.
Moving forward, all plans include our full suite of sales and marketing features. That includes:
- Abandoned cart email to recover lost sales automatically
- Coupons to run promotions or grant discounted access
- Order bumps and upsells funnels to increase your average order value at checkout
We’ve also expanded support for recurring revenue models. Every plan now includes the ability to create and sell memberships and subscriptions, so you can earn income on a predictable, ongoing basis.
To help you reach more customers and reward your advocates, affiliate marketing tools—including affiliate link tracking and commission management—are available on the Builder, Growth, and Advanced plans. These features make it easier to partner with others who can promote your products and drive sales, while giving you full control over commissions and payouts.
Now included on all plans:
- Abandoned cart recovery emails (unlimited sends)
- Built-in payment gateway and checkout
- Automatic sales tax handling (calculate, collect, and remit US sales tax, VAT, and GST)
- Tax-inclusive pricing optionality
- Sales reporting
- Coupons
- Order bumps
- Upsell funnels
- Subscriptions
- Enrollment caps
- Student referrals
Included on the Builder, Growth, and Advanced plans:
- Affiliates
Free, unlimited AI-powered caption generation and subtitle translation on Growth and Advanced plans
To further support this elevated experience, we’re also including AI-powered caption generation and subtitle translation on the Growth and Advanced plans at no additional cost. These features improve accessibility and open your content to a wider global audience, while also saving you time on manual work.
AI-powered captions and translations are available on the Starter and Builder plans for an additional usage cost.
Redefining products on Teachable
We have redefined what counts as a product and how your product publishing limit works.
Only courses, coaching products, and digital downloads count toward the published product limit on each plan. The limit is a total across all product types—not per type.
For example, if you're on the Growth plan with a 25-product limit, you could publish:
- 25 courses; or
- 15 courses and 10 downloads; or
- 20 coaching products and 5 courses; or
- or any combination that adds up to 25 total published products
What doesn’t count toward your product limit?
To give you more flexibility in how you deliver value, we’ve made powerful features available on all plans without counting toward product limits:
Community and Memberships are included on all plans
Whether you want to spark deeper engagement with your audience through community discussions or earn ongoing income through memberships, you can now create these without limits. These tools are essential for building engagement and recurring revenue, and they’re now accessible across the board.
Unlimited Bundles on every plan
Bundles allow you to package multiple products together and sell them as a single offer—perfect for boosting perceived value or selling larger learning programs. Moving forward, you can create and sell as many bundles as you like, no matter which plan you use. Bundles no longer count toward your product limit, so you can mix, match, and market your content without restriction.
These changes are designed to make our plans more clear and to give you greater control over how you build your business on Teachable.
Updates to student management
You can serve up to 100 students on Starter, 1,000 students on Builder, and unlimited students on the Growth and Advanced plans.
Starter | Builder | Growth | Advanced | |
Students | 100 | 1,000 | Unlimited | Unlimited |
What is a student?
Students are any users who have joined your school or any product within your school. They are not admin-level users, therefore, they do not have any privileges in your school.

How is my plan changing on Teachable?
Between June 16 and July 15, 2025, your school will be moved to a new plan based on your current plan and the number of published products and students in your school. You will receive an email indicating the specific plan your school will be moved to.
In general:
- Basic plan schools will move to the Builder plan
- Pro plan schools will move to the Growth plan
- Pro+ plan schools will move to the Advanced plan
However, if a school has more published products or students than the new corresponding plan allows, it will be moved to the plan that matches the current product and student counts. Product and student limits, where applicable, are outlined in the table at the top of this article.
If you have questions about how your current usage fits our new plans, please reach out to us, either via the Help section form or by email at billing@teachable.com.
When is my plan changing?
Teachable will be gradually migrating schools to their new plans between June 16 and July 15, 2025.
Your new plan subscription price will take effect on your first renewal, whether monthly or annual, on or after June 29, 2025. This means that you will receive all the features of the new plan on the date of the migration, but you will not pay for the new plan until then.
Example scenarios
Example 1: You are on a Basic annual plan today and your plan is scheduled to renew on October 1, 2025. You’ve received an email indicating that your new plan will be the Builder plan.
- Your plan will be moved to the Builder annual plan between June 16 and July 15, 2025
- You will receive access to all the Builder plan features when that migration is complete
- Your price will not change until your plan renews on October 1, 2025

- Your plan will be moved to the Growth monthly plan between June 16 and July 15, 2025
- You will receive access to all the Growth plan features when that migration is complete
- Your price will not change until your plan renews on July 20, 2025
What’s not changing?
- Your plan billing cadence—monthly or annual—will not change unless you change it.
- Your next renewal date will not change.
- Payment processing and BackOffice fees will not change.
- How your school appears for your students
- Your school URL and any branding you have set for your school, including white labeling your site, will not change

FAQ
When is the change to my plan happening?
Teachable will be migrating schools to their new plans between June 16 and July 15, 2025.
When will I start paying the new price?
Your new plan subscription price will take effect on your first renewal, whether monthly or annual, on or after June 29, 2025.
How do I lock in my current pricing?
If you’re on a monthly plan, you can upgrade to an annual plan before June 15 to lock in current pricing for one year.
To lock in current pricing for a year, navigate to Settings > Plan within your Teachable account, select Annual, and then select your plan.
If I have a coupon on my current plan, will it apply to my new plan?
Yes. If you have a coupon on your current plan, it will apply to your new plan. For example, if you currently have a 25% off coupon on your current plan, and you have time remaining on that coupon, the 25% off coupon will automatically apply to your new plan for the duration of its term.
Where can I find how many published products I have?
You can see how many published products you have in two places: 1) by viewing any of your product index pages, i.e. courses, coaching, or digital downloads; and 2) on your Billing page, by going to Settings > Billing.
Course Index Page
Billing page
Where can I find how many students I have?
You can find the number of students in your school by going to Users > Students in your school admin. To learn more about Students and other user roles in your Teachable school, visit the Help Center here.
Where can I find my plan renewal date?
You can find your plan renewal date by going to Settings > Billing in your school admin.
How can I cancel or change my plan?
You can manage your plan (upgrade, downgrade or cancel) at any time from the Billing page at Settings > Billing within your account. You can always switch to the plan that works best for you.
Here are a couple specific scenarios you might consider to decide whether switching to a new plan makes sense for you.
If you have more published products than the limit on a lower plan, your most recently published products will become unpublished. This means existing students will be able to access those products but you will not be able to sell that product or enroll any new students into that product. Learn more about product publishing here.
If you would like to switch to a plan with a lower student limit, and you already have more students in your school than included on that plan, you will need to remove students from your school to get under the limit on the new plan. Once removed, those students will no longer have access to your school or to any of their products on your school.
I'm on a trial offer, will I have to pay the new price after my trial ends?
If you are currently on a trial of a Basic, Pro, or Pro+ plan, you will pay the current price associated with that plan when your trial expires. Your school will then be migrated to the correct new plan between June 16 and July 15, 2025. You will pay the new price at the first renewal, whether monthly or annual, on or after June 29, 2025. If you have any questions, please reach out to us, either via the Help section form or by email at billing@teachable.com.
