Students and coaching clients on Teachable can manage their billing details, subscriptions, and payment methods directly from their account. Follow the steps below based on whether you use a Teachable Account or a school-specific account.
Manage Billing Overview
If you’re a student or coaching client:
Manage billing details, subscriptions, and payment methods directly in your Teachable account.
If you have a Teachable Account:
If your account is linked to a Teachable Account, manage billing through your Teachable dashboard.
If you’re using a school account:
Manage billing individually within each school.

Add or Change a Credit/Debit Card
One-time purchases
At checkout, check “Save my billing info for future purchases.”
Recurring payments (subscriptions or payment plans)
Your card is saved automatically when you subscribe.
Access and update your billing information
In order to update, change, or remove a credit or debit card:
Log in to the school you're enrolled in.
Click your user icon (top-right corner).
Select Add/Change Credit Card from the dropdown menu.
Then follow the steps based on your account type:
For school accounts
On the Add/Change Credit Card page:
Remove a card: Click Remove Card.
Add or update a card: Enter new details → Click Update Credit Card.
For Teachable Accounts
Go to your Billing Page.
You’ll see:
Schools I Own – Manage billing for schools you own in your school's admin billing page.
Schools I’m Enrolled In – Manage credit cards associated with your student enrollments on schools.
Stored Credit Cards – Credit cards associated with your student enrollments on schools.
To add a new card:
Click Add New Card → Enter details → Add Card.
Optional: Check “Make default for course enrollments on new schools.”
To change your default card:
Click the three dots next to a card → Set Default Card For New Schools.
Note: Changing your default card affects new purchases only.
For active subscriptions, update them individually (see below).
Change or unlink a card for existing subscriptions
In the section Schools I’m Enrolled In, click the dropdown for the school.
Select your new card. A ✅ Checkmark icon will confirm your choice.
Each subscription is treated separately. Update them one at a time for each school.
Remove a card
Important: If a card is tied to an active subscription, you’ll need to update that subscription first, otherwise you'll get an warning "This card is associated with an active subscription an a school and cannot be removed. Please unlink this card from the associated school first."
Manage existing memberships and subscriptions
In your school’s Memberships & Subscriptions page, you’ll see all active subscriptions.
For each one, you can:
View the membership tier or course name
Cancel at the end of the billing cycle
Upgrade or downgrade your membership
Reactivate cancelled membership or subscription
Click Renew before the end of your billing cycle to restore access.
Example: If you subscribed on Jan 1st and canceled on Jan 10th, you can renew until Feb 1.
After your billing cycle ends, repurchase is required.
PayPal subscriptions cannot be renewed — only repurchased.
Add or edit address information
Go to your Profile → Address section in the school.
Fill in your address fields (required fields marked with asterisk*).
Click Update Billing Info to save.
Note: This applies to future payments only — not past receipts.
View your receipts
Click your profile icon → Purchase History.
Click View Receipt next to any transaction.
Receipts are also emailed automatically to the address used at checkout.
Troubleshooting & FAQs
Can’t update credit cards
If students encounter problems updating credit cards due to email verification issues:
Ensure their account email is up-to-date.
Update student's email from the Users > Students section if you're an admin.
Instruct students to reattempt updates after corrections.
Can't access Billing Pages
If students cannot access billing pages:
Confirm they are logging into the correct school URL, not the general Teachable login.
Suggest verifying network stability and switching browsers or devices if needed.
Why is my old card still being charged?
For school accounts:
Follow the steps in Add or change credit/debit card to remove your old card. Repeat this process for each school.
For Teachable Accounts:
Setting a new default card only affects new purchases. Update your subscriptions in the Schools I’m Enrolled In section.
If students face technical issues updating cards, they should:
Disable ad-blocker extensions.
Clear browser cache and cookies.
Use an incognito/private browser window.
Update their browser or try a different one.
Switch to a different internet connection or device.

Can I change my billing date?
No. Billing dates are set at purchase. Contact your school owner for assistance.
Where’s my billing history?
Students can’t view full billing history — check your email receipts or contact your school owner.
I’m on a recurring payment and don’t see a cancel option.
School owners can disable cancel options for fixed payment plans.
Contact your school owner if the cancel button isn’t available.
