How to use the flexible hero banner
Note: The hero banner appears on the new student dashboard and Browse Products (product catalog) pages, as well as the iOS and Android mobile apps.
Navigate to your site editor
Go to Site > Navigation in your admin panel.Click Create hero banner
Scroll to the Hero section and click Create hero banner.
Select where to show your banner
Choose where the banner should appear:Student dashboard (visible to logged-in students)
Browse products page (visible to both logged-in and logged-out users)
Both
Click “Create hero section”
This opens a modal with customizable options:Image (optional)
Headline (required): Max 60 characters
Subtitle (optional): Max 120 characters
Button text (optional): Max 24 characters
Button URL (required if button text is filled): Must be a valid URL
Tip: Use
mailto:[email protected]as the button URL so students can contact you directly.
Set a schedule (optional). Add a start date/time, end date/time, or both to automate when your banner goes live and expires.
Note: Only one banner can be live at a time. If you want an evergreen banner with no expiry, leave the start and end date blank (or remove it later).
Save and preview your banner
Once saved:You’ll see a banner preview using your school’s brand colors and font.
Buttons are not interactive in the preview.
Click Edit to reopen the modal.
Click Delete to remove the banner (confirmation required).
Click Preview to view the live banner on your selected page.
Note: Only one banner can be active at a time.
FAQs
What kinds of content can I feature in the banner?
Anything from important products, promotions, and external links to welcome messages, tips, or live events.
Can I have multiple banners running at once?
No. Only one hero banner can exist at a time. To change your messaging, edit the existing banner or delete it and create a new one.
How does scheduling work?
Set a start date/time, end date/time, or both, and your banner will go live and expire automatically. To swap messaging, update the dates on your existing banner. If you want it to run indefinitely, leave the end date blank.
Can I preview a scheduled banner before it goes live?
Yes. Scheduled banners that aren't currently active can be previewed from your admin panel.
Can students dismiss the banner?
Not at this time. The banner will show until you remove it.
Can I save a draft banner?
Yes — set a future start date and your banner will stay inactive until it goes live automatically. That's the only way to stage a banner before it's visible to students.
Does the hero banner show on mobile?
Yes. The banner appears on both the iOS and Android Teachable apps, in addition to the student dashboard and Browse Products pages on web.
