Overview
With Teachable Payments, students can pay using a wide range of payment methods — from cards and digital wallets to local bank transfers and Buy Now Pay Later options. The methods available at checkout are determined automatically based on your school's location, your student's location, currency, and which payment methods you have enabled within your dashboard.
This article covers which payment methods are available per merchant country, how Adaptive Pricing works, and how to enable additional payment methods.
Note: Payment methods are enabled and managed from Sales > Payment Settings > Payment Methods in your Teachable admin. By default, cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Link are enabled for all Teachable Payments schools.
Adaptive Pricing
Adaptive Pricing is available for all Teachable Payments schools with the Global bundle enabled. It converts your listed prices into the student's local currency at checkout — no setup required on your end outside of turning it on.
How it works
You set your prices in your school's settlement currency
When a student checks out from a different country, Stripe detects their location and displays the price in their local currency
The exchange rate is applied by Stripe at the time of checkout
Currency conversion costs are passed to the student — not to you as the creator
Refunds are always issued in the currency the student paid in, at the original exchange rate
Good to know: Adaptive Pricing also unlocks local payment methods for your students. Many payment methods (like iDEAL in the Netherlands or Bancontact in Belgium) require the price to be presented in the student's local currency to appear at checkout — Adaptive Pricing handles this automatically.
What Adaptive Pricing covers
Adaptive Pricing supports presentment in local currency for students in 150+ countries. The full suite of local payment methods is available to schools on the Go Global bundle. Standard bundle schools have access to cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Link.

Enable payment methods
Cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Link are enabled by default for all Teachable Payments schools. To enable additional payment methods:
Go to Sales > Payment Settings > Payment Methods.
Under Payment Methods, toggle on the methods you want to offer.
Save your settings.
Note: The full suite of local payment methods (35+ methods) is available on the Global bundle. Standard bundle schools have access to a limited set. See Understand your transaction fees and bundles for details.
Custom Payment Gateway (CPG)
Schools on a Custom Payment Gateway have a more limited set of payment methods. CPG does not support Adaptive Pricing — all prices are displayed and charged in the currency you selected when creating each pricing plan.
